Icing Smiles will be the host of the 2017 Nielsen-Massey Buttercream Ball, to take place February 18, 2017 in Baltimore, Maryland. The annual event is a fundraiser supported by generous donors, including the title sponsor Nielsen-Massey Vanillas, which works to help children with critical illnesses and their families.
The non-profit organization Icing Smiles’ goal is to provide a temporary escape from worry and create positive memories during a difficult time. They do so by creating custom celebration cakes for these children and their siblings.
With the help of a devoted team of volunteer bakers and cake artists around the country, Icing Smiles has delivered well over 11,000 cakes to date.
Said Matt Nielsen, COO of Nielsen-Massey Vanillas, Inc. in the lead-up to last year’s event (held in November in Chicago), “As a father, Icing Smiles’ mission to deliver a moment of respite from the daily routine of an ill child or sibling by providing a beautiful, flavorful work of art at no cost to the family rang true to me. What this organization does is no small thing, reminding us of the joy that food, and especially cake, brings to people and the opportunity it provides to celebrate someone. It’s a simple act of kindness that has a lasting impact.”
The 2017 Buttercream Ball will provide guests with many great experiences, including being welcomed by the Baltimore Ravens cheerleaders. The high-energy, interactive cocktail and confection party will also feature gourmet treats from Rouge Fine Catering, a dessert buffet provided by Jason Hisley of renowned Baltimore bakery La Cakerie, and a visually delightful cake showpiece by Amy Egan and Tavares Evans of Cakes 2-A-T.
Tickets for the 2017 Nielsen-Massey Buttercream Ball in Baltimore can be purchased online here, and individuals may also sponsor an Icing Smiles Sugar Angel to attend the event.
