Ingredients
1-1/2 cups Gold Medal™ all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon baking powder
1/2teaspoon salt
3/4 cup (1-1/2 sticks) butter, softened
1cup brown sugar
2/3 cup granulated sugar
2eggs
1-1/2 teaspoons vanilla extract
1(.25 fluid ounce) vial red food coloring
1-1/2 cups white chocolate chips
3/4cup chopped macadamia nut
Directions
Preheat oven to 350°F. Grease a 13x9 inch baking dish with non-stick cooking spray.
In a medium bowl, whisk the flour, baking powder, and salt; set aside. In the bowl of an electric mixer, blend the butter, brown sugar, and granulated sugar on medium speed until light and fluffy, 2 to 3 minutes. Beat in the eggs and vanilla extract. Add the flour until just combined.
With the mixer on low speed, put several drops of the red food coloring into the batter. Gradually add more food coloring until you get the red that you desire. I put an entire vial of food coloring along with about 6 drops of blue food coloring to make a crimson colored bar. Feel free to use any combination of food colorings.
Stir in the white chocolate chips and chopped macadamia nuts. Pour the batter into the prepared pan, spreading it evenly. Bake for 35-40 minutes, until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean. Cool, and cut into squares.
