Gingerbread is a stalwart flavor of the holidays, whether enjoyed through gingerbread houses, cookies, or a variety of other foods. At Krispy Kreme Doughnuts, it can be found in a delectable limited-time doughnut.
From Wednesday, December 19 until Christmas Eve on Monday, December 24, Krispy Kreme will offer the returning Gingerbread Glazed Doughnut. The item features a perfectly spiced gingerbread dough with hints of cinnamon, covered in a warm gingerbread molasses glaze.
The company is promoting the return of the Gingerbread Glazed Doughnut with a special message from “George the Gingerbread Man” on behalf of gingerbread men everywhere who want to avoid being eaten during the holidays.
“We understand that gingerbread people are delicious to everyone … family, friends, foxes. But in the name of St. Nicholas, please DON’T EAT US for holiday tradition. Please do your part to enable us to keep all our parts. We implore you to “run, run as fast as you can” to participating Krispy Kreme shops across the U.S., before all the Gingerbread Glazed Doughnuts are gone. And save the lives of innocent gingerbread people everywhere,” he says.
“The destruction of gingerbread culture and habitats, aka gingerbread houses, must stop,” says Dave Skena, Chief Marketing Officer of Krispy Kreme. “There’s no reason to consume gingerbread people when you can eat delicious Gingerbread Glazed Doughnuts instead.”
