When a bakery masters a dessert flavor, a logical next step is to bring that flavor to new products. That’s what Prantl’s Bakery is hoping to accomplish with a new collaboration.
The Pittsburgh institution is teaming up with Platform Beer Co. to turn its beloved burnt almond torte into an ale called “Torte.” The blonde ale with a burnt almond torte flavor will be available starting Friday, April 12 at Platform Beer Co.’s tasting rooms in Cleveland, Columbus, and Cincinnati, Ohio.
The blonde ale, which contains 6.9% IBU and will come in 16 oz. 4-packs, will not be available in Pittsburgh, as Platform Beer Co. does not have a tasting room in that city.
Prantl’s burnt almond torte is an iconic dessert. Food Network named it the best cake in the state of Pennsylvania, going on to say that, “The residents of Pittsburgh are almost as passionate about this iconic square torte as they are about football.”
