Kolache Factory recently unveiled the winner of a special contest to determine its next kolache flavor. The bakery-café chain held its annual “Create a New Kolache Contest” as part of its Kolache Olympics in Katy, Texas on Tuesday, July 9.
Abby Benz of St. Louis, Missouri was crowned the official winner of the competition for her Kolache Kristo, a kolache version of the famous Monte Cristo sandwich which was her favorite childhood meal. Benz receives the title of Kolache Queen, as well as free kolaches from Kolache Factory for one year.
The new kolache flavor will debut at Kolache Factory locations nationwide in August and will be available for the entire month.
Benz was among five finalists selected from more than 1,700 nationwide entries for the contest. Other finalists hailed form Texas and Albuquerque, New Mexico.
Every year, Kolache Factory holds its Kolache Olympics, which includes the “Create A New Kolache Contest”. In this nationwide competition, the bakery-café chain’s employees and customers from all over the country submit new flavor ideas. Kolache Factory asks foodies to come up with exciting flavors and submit their ideas in an online entry form.
