National Waffle Day takes place Saturday, August 24, and people around the country will surely celebrate this indulgent food holiday during breakfast, brunch, and for snacking.
Clinton Food Hall in New York City is providing several gourmet waffle options that day. The popular restaurant is offering half-priced Red Velvet Waffles for $12 all day long. Normally $25, the colorful treat is made with three red velvet waffles stacked high with vanilla ice cream, rainbow sprinkles, chocolate sauce, cocoa powder, cream cheese frosting on a bed of Oreos topped with a slice of red velvet cake.
Another colossal creation from Clinton Hall is the What the Cruff Waffle. The decadent dessert features two waffles, an ice cream-filled doughnut, and is topped with 14 scoops of ice cream with flavors including Clinton Hall x Stuffed Snickerdoodle, Cookie Monster, Red Velvet Cookie Dough, and Ferrero Rocher. Finally, the treat is garnished with an ice cream cone. The What the Cruff Waffle is available for the entire month of August for $40.
Other available waffle flavors include the Birthday Waffle and Peanut Butter Dream. The Birthday Waffle ($25) is made with three waffles topped with vanilla ice cream, rainbow sprinkles, raspberry sauce, caramel sauce, lollipops, whipped cream, a sugar cone, and a slice of cake. Peanut Butter Dream ($25) is made with three chocolate waffles, vanilla ice cream, chocolate sprinkles, chocolate sauce, peanut butter sauce, whipped cream, Reese's cups, and a piece of peanut butter pie.
Clinton Hall is also famous for its Doughnut Grilled Cheese. A fresh glazed doughnut is sliced in half, filled with mozzarella, and hung over a bowl of tomato soup for a savory snack.
