With National Coffee Day approaching on Sunday, September 29, Duck Donuts is planning something special for its customers. Instead of promoting traditional coffee, the donut chain’s numerous U.S. locations are promoting something much different.
Beginning Friday, September 27 and lasting through the weekend, Duck Donuts will offer a powdered sugar donut featuring a dollop of buttercream delicately placed in the center, which is then topped with ground coffee.
“Since we are unable to fill our donuts due to our warm, made-to-order concept, we took an innovative approach to finding a loophole that will satisfy the needs of our guests looking to enjoy a cream-filled donut,” says Russ DiGilio, founder and CEO of Duck Donuts. “We look forward to delivering a unique flavor experience coffee lovers will be sure to love as we celebrate National Coffee Day all weekend long.”
In addition to the buttercream donut topped with coffee, Duck Donuts is also promoting its fall pie-inspired donut flavors. These limited-time donuts include chopped apple and streusel toppings, and pumpkin icing. The apple topping is made with real fruit, has the consistency of apple pie filling, and features hints of cinnamon. The pumpkin icing is creamy and sweet, with a dash of spice.
Ducks Donuts is also offering a fall lineup of hot and iced espresso beverages. Among those is its Pumpkin Spice Latte, the Salted Caramel Mocha, and a Cookie Butter White Mocha.
