On Saturday, November 16, Milk Bar is set to open a 4,000-square-foot flagship location on the ground floor of the Ace Hotel in New York City.
The expansive shop will feature four distinct parts: a downstairs area with a classroom and bakery, an upstairs café-style area for dine-in customers, a grab-and-go “mini mart” for pre-packaged items and Milk Bar merchandise, and a group of DIY stations where customers can build cookies and other sweets.
“It’s meant to be like a playground, but not in a kiddie way. It’s more of a choose-your-own-adventure space,” owner Christina Tosi tells Time Out New York. “For us, this space is an expression of us as New Yorkers. I think some people maybe misunderstand Milk Bar as everything being rainbows and sunshine and it’s all about pink. But this is us as New Yorkers and also an expression of Milk Bar 11 years later.”
The flagship location’s opening comes in time for the 11th anniversary of Milk Bar’s opening. The bakery continues to expand, with over 16 locations and counting. Milk Bar also recently secured Series B funding from Sonoma Brands, with the goal of its products being stocked in grocery stores nationwide.
