Sprinkles has teamed up with actor Michael B. Jordan and his mom Donna Jordan in December to raise awareness and money for lupus. The Rum Cake cupcake is based on Donna’s famous recipe.

The cupcake features a scratch made yellow cake, infused with Bacardi Gold Rum syrup, topped with vanilla buttercream frosting and candied walnuts. Sprinkles will donate 50 cents from each cupcake sold to Lupus LA, up to $10,000. Lupus LA is a non-profit health organization dedicated to finding the causes of and a cure for lupus while providing support, services, and hope to all who suffer from lupus.

“The Rum Cake cupcake flavor was inspired by my mom’s famous rum cake recipe - my favorite dessert in the world! She worked closely with the Sprinkles team to make sure the taste was as close and authentic as possible,” says Michael B. Jordan.

“My lupus has often made it difficult for me to do the things I want to do - like bake! Lupus LA is an organization that helped me thrive despite my disease, and I am so grateful to Sprinkles for supporting Lupus LA through this partnership," says Donna Jordan.

Also available this month is the NYE Champagne cupcake. With New Year’s Eve right around the corner, Sprinkles Cupcakes is preparing with a cupcake that fits the biggest celebration of the year.

The limited-time cupcake is a Champagne cake filled with Pop Rocks popping candy and topped with Champagne buttercream frosting and gold sanding sugar. It will be available Friday, December 27 through Wednesday, January 1.
