Last year, the Wisconsin Bakers Association held its first ever Paczki Preview Party, in which local bakeries offered samples of a variety of paczki in a preview of what’s to come for Fat Tuesday (when the pastry is typically enjoyed) on February 25.
The Association will continue this event for another year at the Polish Center of Wisconsin in Franklin, Wisconsin. WBA member bakeries Cranky Al’s, Grebe’s Bakery, Le Rêve Patisserie and Café, and Elsie Mae’s Canning and Pies will participate this year.
The sold-out event, taking place Sunday, February 9, will give attendees the opportunity to sample these bakeries’ paczki with their Paczki Passport. Attendees who turn in a passport at the end of the sampling session will have a chance to win a dozen paczki and to vote for their favorite paczki which will help determine the best paczki at the event.
All attendees will also receive Mardi Gras beads and a swag bag that includes a ticket to Polish Fest in Milwaukee. There will also be live music, special guest appearances, a cash bar featuring coffee and drink specials that pair well with paczki, and a raffle at the event with proceeds benefitting the Wisconsin Bakers Foundation.
