Beginning on Monday, March 9, the Jewish holiday of Purim will be celebrated across the country. In New York City, a local doughnut chain is offering its own unique take on Hamantaschen, a popular triangular filled treat typically enjoyed during the holiday.
Dough Doughnuts is making its Doughnutaschen available for an extremely limited time at the chain’s three New York City locations (19th Street, City Kitchen, and UrbanSpace) from March 8-10. Two unique flavors, one filled with raspberry jam and one with apricot jam, were created by Michelin-starred pastry chef Bethany Costello.
“We at Dough wanted to celebrate the holiday of Purim with our own version of the traditionally triangular food by having some fun with doughnuts,” says Bethany Costello. “For our Doughnutaschen we went with flavors of apricot and raspberry to reflect tradition. Being part of the New York City community, we love to embrace traditions while imparting the creativity that makes Dough so beloved.”
While quantities available will be limited, Dough Doughnuts is accepting special orders at its flagship 19th Street Location.
