Johnson & Wales University was set to host its fourth annual International Symposium on Bread, presented with platinum sponsor Puratos, in early June. However, due to the current concerns regarding COVID-19 and the health and safety of those involved, the symposium has been postponed until next year.
“Rather than attempting to reschedule for a later date this year, the uncertain outlook and the fact that we engage an international community have led us to move the entire event to 2021. Ironically, the theme for 2020 was “Disruption,” and we're all witnessing plenty of it currently. I am committed to bringing the same, renowned “game-changers,” along with their insights and inspiration, to the 2021 Symposium,” says Peter Reinhart, a Johnson & Wales baking instructor and lauded bread expert who curates the event.
The next edition of the International Symposium on Bread will take place once again in Charlotte, North Carolina on Johnson & Wales University’s campus. It will offer the same (academic) presentation-style of format, and a hands-on workshop-style symposium will follow at the Providence Campus in 2022.
“I know everyone’s lives and livelihoods are being dramatically impacted by the global pandemic. I hope that the future thought-leadership we seek to provide will help, as the bread community looks to thrive in the post COVID-19 world,” says Reinhart.
