Earlier this week, Specialty’s Cafe & Bakery, a sandwich and baked foods chain with more than 50 locations in three states (California, Illinois and Washington), shuttered all of its locations due to the coronavirus pandemic.
The company, which has been in business for 33 years, noted that current market conditions attributed to the pandemic and shelter-in-place policies “have decimated company revenues.”
As one final treat to its fans, Specialty’s gave away frozen cookie dough for an hour Thursday morning at its Redwood City, California warehouse. Each visitor received one box featuring 90 frozen cookie pucks of a single flavor.
For those lucky enough to receive one of these boxes, Specialty’s also provided baking instructions on its Instagram page. It was a way for the chain to show its gratitude to its local community for many great years.
