Chicago-based specialty grocery store and café The Goddess and Grocer is preparing for the opening day of the Major League Baseball season with a Chicago team-themed cake.
The Goddess Home Run Cake features six layers of red and blue cake with vanilla buttercream for Cubs fans, or a layered black and white cake with vanilla buttercream for White Sox fans. The cake costs $7 per slice or $80 for a ten-inch cake.
$10 from the sale of every Goddess Home Run Cake will be donated to Chicago's Anthony Rizzo Family Foundation or the White Sox Charities, both working to fight against cancer. Goddess Home Run Cakes are available for pre-order now through the end of the season on September 27, 2020, and a limited number of Goddess Home Run cake slices will be available through the playoffs.
The Goddess and Grocer is offering additional baseball-themed treats to celebrate the new season, including:
Baseball Cupcakes – White, chocolate and red velvet cupcakes, with a variety of frostings, and topped with Cubs or Sox themed designs. ($3.95 each minimum order of 12)
Baseball Cake Pops – A team themed cake ball on a stick, dipped in white frosting and decorated in team colors. ($3.50 each minimum order of 12)
