Alessi Bakery, Tampa Bay’s oldest bakery, celebrated 108 years of business and four generations of ownership by the Alessi family.
This year’s celebration took into consideration the COVID-19 crisis and precautions were taken to protect the safety of staff and customers. The weekend was a tribute to this family business that has stood the test of time and to the joy they have brought the Tampa community in the form of quality baked goods, deli items and custom cakes.
On Saturday, September 26 and Sunday, September 27, the bakery celebrated with:
- Hourly deals
- Reduced prices (specific items priced as if it was 1912)
- A celebration of community and family
- Social media raffle
This year, Alessi sponsored a social media competition to celebrate community members’ support. During the anniversary weekend, customers could post photos of their anniversary special items to be entered into a raffle for an Alessi basket. Entries were to include the hashtag #StillGreatAt108.
Alessi Bakery is a true Tampa landmark dating back over a century to 1912, making it one of the few historic restaurant establishments in the area. The bakery was first opened by Nicolo Alessi, who arrived in Tampa from Italy over a hundred years ago, bringing his knowledge of baking and proud European heritage with him.
