David Fliss is the owner and chief executive officer of Baker Support and chief executive officer of Food EcoSystems. Baker Support is a bakery consulting firm which supports the industry in job recruiting, training, product representation, international expansion and sales/marketing representation. Food EcoSystems develops solutions to increase supply chain transparency and security for the food industry.
With over 30 years in the industry, Fliss has done it all. However, he is taking on a new challenge as he has entered an online competition for Favorite Chef. While Fliss has never had culinary training, he does have a passion for cooking that is now on full display for the world to see as he competes online for World’s Greatest New Chef.
Chefs from around the globe are invited to compete in an exclusive online competition to be named the world’s Favorite Chef, receive $50,000 and be featured in a two-page advertising spread in Bon Appétit announcing the winner.
For over a week now, Fliss has held on to 1st place in his group. Once he climbed to the top of the leaderboard, he hasn’t moved from that position. The third-round ends Thursday March 11 at 9 pm EST and only the top 5 will continue to the 4th round.
His wife Adriana convinced him to enter the competition to show his skills and have some fun. This comes after he has developed two new companies at a time when COVID-19 has brought the world to a standstill. In July he lost his father to the virus, and due to travel restrictions, was not able to attend the funeral in person.
“This competition has been a godsend for David as he can spend a few hours a day as a culinary artist creating dishes that I am lucky enough to eat, while he is inspiring others all over the world to follow their passion,” says Adriana Fliss.
