The month of July is a natural time of year to celebrate ice cream, with the hotter weather taking over and National Ice Cream Day taking place on July 18. With that in mind, grocery delivery platform Instacart examined purchase data featuring thousands of different ice cream products to reveal each state’s favorite ice cream flavor.

Vanilla is by far the most preferred flavor, accounting for more than a quarter (26.2%) of all ice cream sales in the US, so Instacart dug deeper to find out what people are buying when they step out of their vanilla comfort zone. The platform determined which ice cream flavor each state buys the most compared to the national average, with the following results:
