Throughout September in honor of National Honey Month, the National Honey Board has teamed up with food and beverage brands to help bee populations as part of its Honey Saves Hives program.

By purchasing participating made-with-honey products throughout the month, consumers will help fund bee health research and programs for Project Apis m., the nation’s largest honey bee nonprofit. One of the brands the Board is collaborating with is Companion Baking, a St. Louis-based manufacturer of specialty breads and pastries.

Companion has created the Banana Chocolate Chip Bread Pudding, utilizing all-natural honey. It’s available for purchase at select Fresh Thyme, Schnucks, and Dierbergs stores around the country in September. At the end of the month, Companion will make a donation to Project Apis m. as a part of its partnership with the National Honey Board.

Companion Baking was founded in 1993 by Josh Allen. Serving retail, wholesale, and restaurant clients across the country, the family-owned company builds customized bread programs to serve the unique needs of each of its customers. It also has two cafés in the St. Louis area and has been recognized by USA Today as one of the “10 Great Places for Artisan Bread” in the US.
