General Mills Foodservice recently announced that its top recipe of 2021 is the Monte Cristo Biscuit Sandwich – a twist on the classic sandwich that starts with a ready-to-bake buttermilk biscuit, adds a sweet and crunchy coating and is filled with savory ingredients on the inside.
The Monte Cristo Biscuit Sandwich was among the most-clicked recipes on the General Mills Foodservice website in 2021, beating out the other top three recipes in a recent vote on social media. Operators had the opportunity to rank their favorite recipes which also included: Chocolate Almond Croissant Eclairs, Chocolate Mousse Trifles and Inside Out Lemon Meringue Pies.
“It’s always super fun to see which recipes and trends resonate with our foodservice colleagues,” says Jessie Kordosky, who is part of the Chefs of the Mills team and responsible for tracking and breaking down the latest food trends to help operations thrive. “The most-clicked recipes on our site in 2021 demonstrate that operators are looking for menu items that will not only wow their patrons but will also help save time in the kitchen, using frozen baked goods or mixes that make baking easier. We expect this trend to continue into 2022.”
