With Mardi Gras fast approaching, Brooklyn, New York’s Fany Gerson, owner of Fan Fan Doughnuts, is unveiling a collaboration with New Orleans whiskey brand Southern Comfort to bring the spirit of New Orleans to New Yorkers with the limited-time King Cake Doughnut with Southern Comfort glaze.
Southern Comfort and the King Cake are long-standing New Orleans traditions and starting Tuesday, February 22 until Mardi Gras (Tuesday, March 1), New Yorkers can purchase the doughnuts in-person at Fan Fan Doughnuts’ storefront.
As a nod to a timeless Mardi Gras tradition, Southern Comfort and Fan Fan Doughnuts have hidden golden babies in a handful of these limited-edition desserts and locals who find one receive a special Southern Comfort Mardi Gras prize pack.
Fany Gerson has been featured in the New York Times, Food and Wine and Fine Cooking, among many other publications. She launched La Newyorkina, an artisanal Mexican frozen treats and sweets business, in 2010. Gerson is also the chef, founder and co-owner of Fan-Fan Doughnuts. She has written three books, including My Sweet Mexico, which was nominated for a James beard Award in 2010 for best baking and pastry cookbook.
