Yolanda Gampp, star of YouTube’s “How to Cake It” and FOX’s “Crime Scene Kitchen,” and author of Layer Up!: The Ultimate Glow Up Guide for Cakes, is ready to inspire a new generation of bakers with her first children’s book, The Perfect Cake, available wherever books are sold Tuesday, October 11.
The Perfect Cake is the first offering from How To Cake It’s new family division offering inspiring, educational and delightful content, books, products and experiences for kids and their families to enjoy together.
“The majority of How To Cake It’s current community members are parents who desire content and activities that feel safe and enriching for their kids, but that they can also enjoy together as a family,” says How To Cake It chief executive officer Connie Contardi. “These parents have shared with us that their kids are addicted to their iPads…they’ve told us there aren’t enough creative, offline activities that can keep their kids productively occupied or that they can enjoy building memories around together…. so How To Cake It wants to help solve that pain point for them.”
The Perfect Cake, the first book in the online educational baking brand’s new offline kids book series Yo’s Magical Kitchen, isn’t more than a storybook—it’s also a baking book. The hybrid format is the first of its kind where readers, ages 4 - 8, can follow Yo’s adventures in baking (and in life) and are then empowered to try their hand at making their own culinary creations with their families.
“Being a mother myself, I wanted to create a book that families could really experience and enjoy together,” says co-author Yolanda Gampp, who the 40-page full color book’s story is based on. “The Perfect Cake is a story about the lessons my parents taught me growing up. The importance of working hard, practicing what you love and trying your best. The people who truly love you in life don’t expect perfection. What they really want is to see you believe in yourself.”
The Perfect Cake features 40 full-color pages, including two beginner-friendly recipes at the back of the book.
