The 51st Pillsbury Bake-Off Contest was open to home cooks and bakers nationwide, providing them with the opportunity to win a grand prize and make a generous charitable contribution. This year’s contest had a special twist, as Pillsbury challenged participants to turn their ovens off for the first time in the contest’s history.
Pillsbury introduced the Ovens Off Bake-Off Contest and contestants were required to use anything but the oven to prepare their recipe. In the last year, Pillsbury has seen an increase in demand for recipes made outside the oven. The Pillsbury Ovens Off Bake-Off is a celebration of all the new ways families are preparing their meals, leaning into evolving cooking trends and using air fryers, griddles, grills, slow cookers and more to prepare their favorite meals, snacks, appetizers, breakfasts and desserts.
After asking contestants to turn off their ovens for the twist on the beloved contest, the winner of the 51st Pillsbury Bake-Off is Laurie McKenna from Fairfield, Ohio. McKenna wowed the judges with her Greek-inspired recipe, Air Fryer Crescent Greek Nachos, made with Pillsbury Original Crescent Dough as the chips, and topped with feta cheese, tomatoes, cucumber, red onion, dill weed and Greek seasoning.
As the grand prize winner, she will receive $50,000, plus a $50,000 donation from General Mills on her behalf to her selected charity of choice, No Kid Hungry, an organization dedicated to fighting child hunger in the United States.
The recipe for Air Fryer Crescent Greek Nachos can be found at Pillsbury’s website. Other finalist recipes included Air Fryer Rocky Road Cookies, Air Fryer Sausage Corndog Poppers, Grilled Meat Lover’s Biscuit Cheeseburgers and Chocolate Peanut Butter Biscuit Wafflettes.
