In 2015, a dessert version of the Turducken took that concept to a new (and sweeter) level. The PieCaken, created by pastry chef Zac Young, was intended to be the ultimate Thanksgiving dessert by featuring a pumpkin pie, pecan pie, and spice cake cut and stacked together, then finished with cinnamon frosting, oat crumble, and apple pie filling.
Several years ago, Chef Young expanded on that idea by introducing a PieCaken for Christmas. The holiday version of the dessert consisted of pecan pie, eggnog cheesecake and red velvet cake layered together with amaretto buttercream and topped with sweet and tart cherry pie filling.
New this holiday season, Chef Young is launching an updated version of the Christmas PieCaken. It’s a sprinkle covered, festive mashup combining chocolate pecan pie, cherry swirl cheesecake and red velvet cake, layered with cream cheese buttercream and topped off with festive holiday sprinkles. The seasonal PieCaken is available on Goldbelly for $99.95, which includes nationwide shipping.
Chef Young was named one of the “Top Ten Pastry Chefs in America” in 2015, the PieCaken has been featured on Oprah’s O List and Chowhound named it “The Most Epic Holiday Dessert of All.”
