As we approach National Auntie Day on July 26, Auntie Anne’s looks to settle the debate on whether the correct pronunciation is “Ahn-tee” or “Ant-tee.”
The pretzel chain surveyed Americans, and the data shows that more than half say “Ahn-tee”:
- 54 percent of Americans pronounce Auntie as “AHN-TEE” and 46 percent pronounce it “ANT-EE” when saying the word on its own
- More people pronounce it “ANT-EE Anne’s” instead of “AHN-TEE Anne’s” (34 percent compared to 24 percent)
- Americans prefer their pretzels sweet (49 percent) over salty (35 percent). Other popular flavors include spicy (12 percent) and nutty (5 percent)
- Cheese (38 percent) reigns supreme as the dip of choice. Other top contenders include Mustards (26 percent), Cream Cheese (7 percent) and Ranch (4 percent)
Fans will be able to celebrate National Auntie Day by enjoying a free Cinnamon Sugar or Original Pretzel with the purchase of any pretzel item at Auntie Anne’s.
