In the midst of Three Brothers Bakery’s 2024 Presidential Cookie Poll, in which guests can “vote their tastebuds,” President Joe Biden has chosen to remove himself from the Presidential race. The Houston bakery scrambled and came up with the mascot of the Democratic party for a replacement and less than 24 hours later was scrambling again to create the Kamala Harris 2024 cookie. That cookie has debuted today for shipping, online for pickup and starting Friday at any of the bakery’s four stores
There are 3 candidates: Harris (previously Biden), Trump and the bakery’s endorsement, its mascot Gingy. The candidate caricatures were created by Leah Kim, one of the bakery’s Memory Makers.
“We looked to the Democratic campaign for guidance on previous ‘votes.’ Because Harris was already on the ticket, she will control all of the previously cast Biden cookie votes now,” says Bobby Jucker, fifth-generation baker and co-owner of Three Brothers Bakery.
This is the first year that Three Brothers Bakery is offering the opportunity to vote across the entire country as its ships the cookies nationwide (minimum order of six cookies). By opening it up nationwide the bakery hopes its “scientific poll” will be a true reflection of the feelings of the entire country vs. just Houston. Each week totals are posted on the bakery’s Facebook page.
