In its annual 2025 Wisconsin Cheese Trends Report, Dairy Farmers of Wisconsin (DFW) offers new insights into the evolving cheese landscape and highlights emerging flavors and trends we expect to see from consumers as they purchase cheese in 2025.
The top five trends, as identified through resources from Innova Market Insights:
- Global Cheese Renaissance – Bold, unique flavors are in, with 40 percent of consumers seeking international options like Golden Age Cheese, Paneer, and Queso Quesadilla.
- Classic Comforts on Center Stage – Nostalgia reigns, with 65 percent of consumers leaning into cheddar, gouda, and feta as enduring favorites.
- Nurturing Meaningful Connections – One in three consumers say social connections are key to well-being, with programs like Cheeselandia showcasing cheese’s power to unite.
- From Star Ingredients to Star Experiences – Artisanship and transparency matter, with 70 percent of consumers prioritize these qualities, and Wisconsin’s Master Cheesemaker Program leads the way.
- Mood-Boosting Bites – 61 percent of consumers equate mental wellness with overall wellness, making snackable cheeses like fresh mozzarella and havarti top choices.
