1. Turn the cake lengthwise. Start combing at the top left-hand corner of the cake.
2. Pull the comb lengthwise across the left-hand side of the cake. Keep the comb parallel to the top and side of the cake.
3. Turn the cake vertical. Hold the comb firmly. Start at the top left-hand corner of the cake and pull the comb toward you. Keep the comb parallel to the top fo the cake and comb the half-moon pattern as shown. It is very important to keep your wrist straight and your comb parallel to the top fo the cake at all times.
4. The next row is combed as the first. Note that the pattern alternates so the half-moon is centered in between each of the half-moons in the previous row. Repeat steps 3 and 4 until the top of the cake is completely combed.
5. The next row is combed as the first. Note that the pattern alternates so the half-moon is centered in between each of the half-moons in the previous row. Repeat the steps until the top of the cake is completely combed, reverse, opposite direction.
