After record-breaking attendance at its 2016 event, The International Baking Industry Exposition (IBIE) was honored by Trade Show Executive as one of the fastest-growing trade shows in the publication’s Fastest 50 Awards. Held at the Las Vegas Convention Center, IBIE 2016 had more than 1,000 exhibitors — up 28% from the previous show in 2013 — over more than 700,000 square feet. Attendance was also up 9% from IBIE 2013 with around 23,000 registered attendees from more than 100 countries.
The next IBIE show is scheduled for 2019 and will be a return to the Las Vegas Convention Center. New IBIE chairman Joseph Turano, president of Turano Baking Co., Berwyn, Ill., is dedicated to raising the bar again.
“It’s an honor to serve as chair of IBIE 2019 with our committee focused on maintaining the record-breaking momentum from 2016,” Mr. Turano says. “It’s our goal to deliver continued value for exhibitors and attendees alike in 2019 and create a destination where everyone in baking wants to be.”
Mr. Turano thanks past IBIE leadership for setting his committee up to succeed.
“Thanks and credit go to past chair Mike Cornelis for setting us up with a successful platform on which to build for 2019,” he says. “Planning is already well-advanced for the next event, with the committee working aggressively to spotlight innovation, networking and ideas with expanded offerings.”
Mr. Cornelis expresses his faith in Mr. Turano and his team.
“Joe is steering the committee at an exciting time for IBIE,” he says. “He brings vast experience to the table and we can expect great things for IBIE 2019 as the committee builds on the growth we saw in 2016.”
The committee also added Timothy Ramsey, vice-president, procurement, product development and commercialization, Hearthside Food Solutions, L.L.C., and Dale LeCrone, chief executive officer and owner, LeMatic, Inc. Dennis Gunnell, vice-president, sales and marketing, Formost Fuji Corp., stepped up as vice-chair of the committee, and Dave Watson, vice-president, Campbell Soup Co. and Pepperidge Farm, was named IBIE secretary and treasurer.
Richard Hoskins of Colborne Foodbotics, and Howard Alton, III of Pan-O-Gold Baking Co., St. Cloud, Minn., completed their terms serving on the IBIE committee.
