On National Donut Day, we celebrate one of the most popular foods in the country. How popular is it really? National Today partnered with delivery app Postmates to find out.
National Today’s data team surveyed 1,000 Americans about their donut-eating habits. According to the results, 96% of Americans view donuts favorably. 56% said they love donuts while 40% said they like them. Surprisingly, 4% of those surveyed actually said that they either dislike or hate donuts.
Those surveyed were also asked about their favorite flavors of donuts. Here are the top ten results:
- Glazed (28%)
- Boston Cream (17%)
- Chocolate frosted (16%)
- Jelly filled (11%)
- Chocolate cake (7%)
- Maple (6%)
- Blueberry (5%)
- Bear Claw (4%)
- Powdered sugar (3%)
- Pink frosted (3%)
Some of the most popular donut spots for those surveyed included Krispy Kreme, Dunkin’ Donuts, Shipley Donuts, Tim Hortons, and Voodoo Donuts.
The results show us what we already know: That donuts are amazing and continue to be beloved by an overwhelming majority of Americans.
