Cakes & Desserts by Monica in New Orleans recently earned the title of American Small Business Champion for the state of Louisiana by SCORE, a nonprofit association dedicated to helping small businesses get off the ground, grow, and achieve their goals through education and mentorship. 

As part of the distinction, Cakes & Desserts by Monica receives a $1,000 Sam’s Club gift card, an all-expense-paid trip to a training and networking event, SCORE mentoring, and publicity throughout the year. Additionally, the bakery is also eligible to win one of three $25,000 grand prizes by being named Grand Champion, which will be selected from the group of Small Business Champions from each state this summer.

Each contestant submits an online application describing the most unique aspect of their small business that has contributed to their success, their positive impact on their community, and their plans to use the prizes to grow their business.
