The Americas Cake Fair takes place October 13-15 in Orlando, Florida, and the hugely popular industry event looks to follow up its successful inaugural edition in 2015 with an even bigger and better 2017 edition.
The expo will have a large variety of unique features, one of the most interesting being its Live Chocolate Challenge. On Saturday, October 14, 2-person teams of chocolate artists will compete in a friendly 7 hour-long challenge to create a chocolate sculpture a minimum 36 inches high and a chocolate entremet.
Presented by Chef Rubber and coordinated by Executive Pastry Chefs David Ramirez and Steve Evetts, the Live Chocolate Challenge will bring together the best professionals in the business from both Florida and throughout the U.S.
Each team, comprised of a professional chef and a rising student in the chocolate arts, will be sponsored by a chocolate manufacturing company.
Up for grabs will be a first prize of $10,000, followed by a second prize of $3,500 and a third prize of $1,500. The challenge theme is “Christmas in Florida,” and the teams will be graded by an elite panel of judges and earn points on each of four different segments.
The Americas Cake Fair is hosted by Satin Ice and takes place at the Orange County Convention Center in Orlando, Florida.
