International confections specialist Lady M Cake Boutique is opening a pop-up shop in Washington, D.C.’s Union Station for this weekend only.
The company sells finely crafted cakes, made with nearly two dozen crêpes layered with pastry cream, as well as chocolates and pastries. Only two of its top sellers will be available during the two-day event, however: the signature crêpe cakes and a green tea version powdered with matcha.
The ultimate goal for Lady M Cake Boutique is to open a brick-and-mortar location in 2018, assuming the demand is there.
“We hope to use this boutique pop-up event to speak to the locals and get their suggestions,” says Lady M CEO Ken Romaniszyn.
Lady M Cake Boutique follows in the footsteps of Ladurée, the popular French bakery that opened in Union Station in the spring. Its success has paved the way for similar international companies to examine the area as a retail destination.
