On Friday, September 29, Titus Bakery in Lebanon and Westfield, Indiana, was selected as the Business of the Year from the Westfield Chamber of Commerce.
Also known as the Lantern Award, the honor is given to an exceptional business in the area. The Westfield Chamber of Commerce's community awards dinner has been occurring since 1982, but in 2007 it became known as the Lantern Awards to refer to the parts of a lantern honoring Westfield's history and ties to the Underground Railroad.
Nominations for the awards are accepted from the public and members of the chamber's board of directors evaluate and select the final recipients. The remaining recipients are chosen by their respective organization.
Titus Bakery is a third-generation, family-owned business that originated in the 1950's. It has earned a reputation as a top bakery, not just in its local community but in the state of Indiana as well. In 2016, it won Best Specialty Donut at #DonutDayIndy. It is known for its famous Persian donut, which features a cinnamon center and maple icing.
