After a successful 2016 contest in which independent retail bakery owners from across the country submitted their stories, Flavor Right brought back its successful Icing Funds contest for 2017.
Entrants were asked to complete a submission form on Flavor Right’s Facebook page before August 11, 2017 telling their independent retail bakery’s story, their inspirations, and their dreams for their business.
On Tuesday, October 10, Flavor Right officially announced the winners of its 2017 Icing Funds Contest.
The First Prize Winners were Sprinkleista Bakery in Schenectady, New York, and Easy Peasy Decadent Desserts in Greensboro, North Carolina.
Five bakeries were Second Prize Winners, including:
- The Bakery Nook - Coplay, Pennsylvania
- Choux Cake Studio - Jacksonville, Florida
- Tip Top Cake Shop - Easley, South Carolina
- Baker's Bounty - Linden, New Jersey
- Sweetness Bakeshop & Cafe - Miami, Florida
The First Prize Winners will each receive $5,000, while each Second Prize Winner will receive $2,000. The money will be used by these bakeries for improvements. Last year’s First Prize Winner, Tina’s Cake Emporium in Windsor Locks, Connecticut, says that it used its prize money to purchase a a fondant sheeter to create cakes faster.
