Brooklyn Whiskers is a vegan retail bakery located in the Bushwick neighborhood of Brooklyn. The bakery satisfies plenty of customers with its plant-based offerings, but it is also a hangout for feline enthusiasts in the area.
Opening in April of 2016, the bakery has quickly become popular in the area with its unique theme. Decadent pastries and lattes come in cat shapes, and items such as cups and coasters are adorned with them as well.
While the theme brings people in, they stay for the baked goods. Chocolate chip cookie sandwiches, doughnut holes with matcha glaze, bis’cats (biscuits) and gravy, and vegan cheese twists are some of the bakery’s most requested items, but its doughssants are especially noteworthy.
The doughssants are similar to the cronut, and come in a variety of flavors like cinnamon apple, raspberry, coconut, and strawberry matcha. They are served on weekends only and cost $7 for one pastry, but are said to be well worth it.
