Twitter isn’t typically known for being the kindest place for its users, but in one recent instance it helped save a man’s bakery. La Casa Bakery and Café was on the verge of closing when a single tweet helped resuscitate business.
In the wake of Hurricane Harvey, the Houston-based bakery was experiencing dwindling sales. Its owner, 70-year-old Trinidad Garza, was about to sell it, which would have ended his dream of owning and running a bakery.
That’s when his daughter stepped in to help. Jackie Garza tweeted out a video of her father making pan dulce, Mexican sweet bread, along with a plea for Twitter users to spread the word and bring in customers.
HEY YALL MY DAD HAS A LITTLE PANADERIA/ RESTAURANT. HE MAKES ALL OF THE PAN DULCE HIMSELF. HE BEEN THINKING ABOUT CLOSING BUT I CANT LET THAT HAPPEN, SPRED THE WORD 1 RT COULD BRING IN A POTENTIAL CUSTOMER! LA CASA BAKERY AND CAFE 1002 HOGAN STREET 77009!!
