April is Autism Awareness Month, and Panera Bread is bringing back its ‘Pieces of Hope for Autism’ campaign from April 12-30.
In select locations throughout Ohio, Kentucky, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, North Carolina, Georgia and Florida, Covelli Enterprises (the Ohio-based franchisee of Panera Bread) is selling puzzle piece shortbread cookies. 100% of the proceeds from these cookie sales go to local non-profit autism organizations in each community.
The puzzle piece cookie is designed to represent the symbol for autism. Because all puzzle pieces are different, the shape represents the diversity of those affected by autism. Each cookie is topped with white icing and an edible sugar decal. Since 2010, the puzzle piece cookie sales have raised over hundreds of thousands of dollars for local autism organizations.
“This special cookie has allowed us to make such a positive difference for those with autism, and that’s something we are extremely proud of,” says Sam Covelli of Covelli Enterprises.
