A colossal cinnamon roll was recently produced in Oregon that has broken the Guinness World Record for largest cinnamon roll.
On Tuesday, April 10, Wolferman's Gourmet Baked Goods in Medford employed a team of 100 workers and volunteers over the course of 11 hours to create the 1,149-pound cinnamon roll. It shattered the previous record of 609 pounds.
“A gentleman that runs our Wolferman's division came up with this idea that today is cinnamon roll day and he wanted to break the record to have the largest cinnamon roll made,” said Steve Lightman, president of Harry & David, which owns the Wolferman's Gourmet Baked Goods brand.
A Guinness World Records representative was on hand to confirm the size and present a certificate. Part of the requirements for the record is that the food item must be eaten in its entirety so it isn’t wasted. The cinnamon roll will be served in pieces at Medford’s Pear Blossom Festival this weekend.
Wolferman’s will sell slices of it for $2 per piece at the festival. All profits made from the cinnamon roll will be donated to the Teresa McCormick Center, a local community resource dedicated to providing education, assistance, and connection for those in need.
To celebrate its World Record, Wolferman’s is selling a special-edition 5-pound version of its popular cinnamon rolls for $50.
