May is Military Appreciation Month, and a Washington, D.C. bakery has partnered with Starbucks to raise awareness for military veterans’ causes.

Dog Tag Bakery has launched its Dog Tag Bakery Brownie (otherwise known as the Salted Potato Chip Crusted Brownie) at over 8,000 Starbucks locations throughout the country. The special brownie is a twist on Dog Tag Bakery’s classic recipe, and features a brownie that is dipped in chocolate and topped with a salted potato chip crumble.

Salty and sweet has long been a great combo, with chocolate covered potato chips being a popular treat at many sweets shops. Dog Tag Bakery looks to capitalize on that flavor pairing in order to benefit our nation’s veterans and their families.

Dog Tag Bakery makes up one arm of the nonprofit Dog Tag Inc., which seeks to build a bridge to business employment and a productive civilian life for the veterans and military families that have served our country. Service-disabled veterans, military spouses, and caregivers are provided a five-month fellowship opportunity, where they can get an education at Georgetown University and real life work experience at Dog Tag Bakery.

“What we do is give them the tools and resources to allow them to move forward,” says Meghan Ogilvie, chief executive officer of Dog Tag Inc.

The Salted Potato Chip Crusted Brownie’s unit price is $3.95, and will be available now until June 4 at participating Starbucks locations.
