Pizza and ice cream are two of the most popular foods in the country, and for good reason. For a majority of people, they are the top choices for the one food they would eat the rest of their lives.

That being said, they aren’t often thought of as a hybrid. Pizza is savory and ice cream is sweet, but that doesn’t mean they have to be separate. Considering savory and sweet flavors are increasingly being combined in foods, it makes sense that pizza and ice cream would eventually find a home together.

That’s what is being attempted at Bruno Pizza in New York City. The food innovators there have debuted a pizza crust ice cream that is making headlines. Pizza dough is ripped apart, toasted, and charred. The crispy bits are then steeped in gelato overnight and added to ice cream the next day.

Bruno Pizza’s ice cream has a sweet taste with a hint of savory. It reminds one of a sweet cereal like Cinnamon Toast Crunch. The ice cream has become a hit with customers, and has gained Bruno Pizza plenty of exposure. It has even been featured on the popular cooking show The Chew.
