The Blueberry Glaze Doughnut was one of the four options fans had when Krispy Kreme asked them to vote on its new flavor offering back in January. Although it ultimately lost out to Lemon Glaze, the blueberry option was so popular that Krispy Kreme decided to give it a try as well.
“The stakes are high when innovating around our iconic Original Glazed Doughnut. Fans fell in love with our Lemon Glaze Doughnut, which won America’s vote earlier this year, and have been craving more,” says Brittany Dubin, Culinary Innovation Lead at Krispy Kreme Doughnuts. “When we looked at how America voted, other flavors received a lot of support and Blueberry stood out as a unique and exciting culinary challenge that inspired my team – so, we went straight to work to tackle the classic flavor experience of blueberry in a way that only Krispy Kreme can: our glaze.”
Krispy Kreme’s Lemon Glaze Doughnut made its debut on Monday, April 23 and was available until Sunday, April 29 at participating locations. It featured a balance of Krispy Kreme’s sweet dough, fresh lemon, and bright citrus.
