The International Dairy Deli Bakery Association (IDDBA)'s 2018 show gets underway Sunday, June 10 in New Orleans at the New Orleans Ernest N. Morial Convention Center. One of the key programs taking place will be the 2018 Cake Decorating Challenge. Three competitors will create cakes over the course of the event, which runs until Tuesday, June 12.
This year’s contestants are:
- Lindsay Anderson of Lunds & Byerlys in Minneapolis, Minnesota
- Natasha Damm of Lambs Gardenhome Marketplace in Portland, Oregon
- Randy Stratton of Dillons in Wichita, Kansas
They will be asked to create enough cakes to fill an 8’ bakery case, a tiered wedding cake, and themed/custom design cakes. Through this competition, they will not only gain recognition for themselves and their store but they’ll further advance their skills, build a network, and discover cutting edge trends and techniques to bring back to their stores.
Judges for the IDDBA 18 Cake Decorating Challenge are Dawn Sweezey of Rich Products Corporation and Dustin Humpherys of Maplehurst Bakeries, LLC. Each day at the show there is a voting opportunity for attendees to choose a favorite decorator through the People’s Choice Award based on the cakes created that day.
