Set for Wednesday, July 4, the community event encourages participants to create classic desserts from the 1950’s and 1960’s. Desserts such as ambrosia salad, dump cakes, and Jell-O molds will be some of the items entered into the competition.
Each entrant will submit two versions of a dessert – the judged entry, which should serve 6-10 people, and a larger version of their entry, with at least twenty full size servings. The overall winner will receive the Retro Bake-Off Champion trophy, while winners in separate categories will receive medals, baking supplies, gift certificates, and other fun prizes.
There will also be a Kids Category, with entrants expected to submit only one version of a dessert that serves 6-10 people.
Retro attire such as bobby socks and saddle shoes are also encouraged for Montclair Bread Co.’s event. It’s a great way for locals to celebrate America on Independence Day, while also celebrating an iconic era in American history.
