Whoopi Goldberg and Sherri Shepherd sunk their teeth into Smallcakes signature cupcakes on “The View” last August. Rob Dyrdek did the same in June while in Kansas City for the Street League Skateboarding competition at the Sprint Center. And now numerous other high profile musicians and celebrities will experience the sweetness that is a Smallcakes cupcake as the local cupcakery has been invited as an exclusive brand vendor at the TPGPR’s Legacy Lounge in celebration of the 2011 MTV Video Music Awards, airing on Sunday, Aug. 28 in Los Angeles, Calif. The gifting suite will be held on August 26th and 27th at the Conga Room, a contemporary event space designed to reflect modern Latino culture located in L.A. LIVE, the downtown entertainment district. The Conga Room has hosted several record launches, movie debuts, concerts, and gift giving parties that allows companies and brands to directly gift celebrities, trendsetters, athletes, and other figures of public influence. It is presented by The Presstige Group Public Relations (TPGPR), a full-service marketing and communications firm based out of Los Angeles that specializes in the entertainment industry. TPGPR invited Jeff Martin, Smallcakes founder, to appear as an exclusive Conga Room brand after one of its staff members saw Martin on a re-run of the Food Network’s “Cupcake Wars Season 2.”
Smallcakes is no stranger to the national spotlight. The cupcakery was a contestant on the first two seasons of the Food Network’s “Cupcake Wars” and was featured on a segment titled “Whoopi’s Favorite Desserts: Cupcakes” on ABC’s hit daytime talk show, “The View,” in August 2010.
Smallcakes plans to serve its Hot Fudge Sundae, Cookies-n-Cream and Red Velvet cupcakes to the Legacy Lounge guests. A special Video Music Awards Celebration cupcake will also be custom created by Martin and available. The Red Velvet was the flavor featured on “The View” in which Shepherd exclaimed, “Now THIS is a red velvet cupcake!”
The 28th Annual Video Music Awards will honor music’s greatest stars with Moonmen awards in several music video categories. Stars nominated in 2011 include Adele, Britney Spears, Bruno Mars, Katy Perry, Kanye West, Foster the People, Mumford & Sons, Lil Wayne, Wiz Khalifa, Beastie Boys, Nicki Minaj, and Chris Brown. Several of these nominees will also be performing at the awards including Adele, Lil Wayne, and Chris Brown.
