Home delivery service and online marketing never looked so promising for the future of the fresh cake segment. “What we are seeing now is a catalyst to push everybody into the digital space,” said Joe Dornoff, president of Bake Me A Wish!, a specialty cakes and sweet goods company based in New York City and founded in 2005.
Gourmet birthday cakes and much more are part of the everyday shopping experience for customers nationwide. The company has tripled in size over the past five years, Dornoff said.
Bake Me A Wish! works with a network of bakeries from which the company picks up orders on a daily basis. The company’s fulfilment center is located in Boyertown, Pa.
“We are able to reach more people at a more efficient UPS rate,” he said, explaining their operational efficiency. “We are shipping Monday through Saturday. We are keeping our nose to the grindstone.”
Having such lengthy experience in digital helps keep Bake Me A Wish! ahead of the game in the lucrative online marketplace. The delivery economy raises the bar for increased traffic and consumer demand.
“We wanted to create an experience; that’s what people need right now,” Dornoff explained, pointing to the interactive capabilities of their unique business model.
The company offers a wide range of distinctive flavors such as the Chocolate Mousse Torte Cake or the Strawberry Funfetti Cake. “Chocolate is king, and people adore our Chocolate Mousse Torte,” he said. “We are starting to move into personalization of decorations. Customers can personalize a cake with somebody’s name and a simple message. It adds an extra flair. Next, we plan on moving into photo cakes.”
Further, Bake Me A Wish! is going the extra mile by partnering with Meals on Wheels America to provide 5% of orders to their COVID-19 Relief Fund.
“At Bake Me A Wish! safety is our number-one priority,” he said. “We’ve been closely monitoring the current situation. Rest assured that all Bake Me A Wish! facilities are fully operational and protected. We are taking the necessary preventative measures to keep our staff healthy and ensure that your orders are fulfilled with the highest degree of cleanliness and accuracy.”
By 2005, BakeMeAWish.com was born as a company with a mission to deliver divinely crafted birthday cakes to anyone across the United States, wherever they are. The business set up a hassle-free process with customizable options at every turn.
Soon, customers fell in love with the expanding line of sumptuous recipes, personalized greeting cards and elegant packaging. Today, the company offers an expanded lineup of other mouthwatering bakery treats including cookies, brownies, cupcakes, pies, and quiches.
“We manage customer contact in-house, using Google Search. A lot of people are coming to us because of stay-at-home orders,” Dornoff explained. “It’s been extremely positive. People are very grateful. I’m glad we can help people smile despite what’s going on.”
