Hosted by Keke Palmer, FOODTASTIC is an immersive global competition series on Disney+ in which highly skilled artists create extravagant scene work and larger-than-life sculptures made entirely out of food. From vegetables and butter to fruit and cheese, these everyday items are transformed into works of art.
Flour Shop founder Amirah Kassem and City Cakes founder chef Benny Rivera participated in the making of FOODTASTIC, a show that brings imagination and food together through extravagant works of art. It’s unlike any unscripted food series you’ve seen before with incredible food artists showing their skills through sculptures and art made entirely of food all themed to a different Disney classic.
Both Amirah and Benny have developed a unique signature style when creating their food concoctions. Amirah’s Flour Shop creations are world renown, with that signature explosion cake capturing the hearts of many and bringing out the child in all of us. Benny remains prominent in the food scene, known for his inventive methods that have redefined certain elements of modern cake design. Check out Benny’s lifesize gingerbread house replica of the iconic “Home Alone” house currently on display in New York City. The house (8 feet tall x 8 feet wide) is made entirely with gingerbread panels, sugar, sprinkles, fondant, chocolate, royal icing, coconut, crystals sugars, flour, popcorn, and many other ingredients.
The gingerbread house is commissioned by @travelersinsurance who is sponsoring The Nutcracker this year with the @nycballet at the @david_h_koch_theater at the @lincolncenter. The house will be on display at the theater lobby for the entire season.
