Scallop Acrylic Disks are finally here! Cake decorators can now use CakeSafe® Acrylic Disks to achieve perfectly crisp edges on each tier. Each disk is also etched with a size marking and line around the edge to help you center your tier.

On a round cake, and using the Scallop Acrylic Disks as guides, you will add quite a lot of buttercream. Be sure to make more buttercream than you need so you don't run out. Since so much buttercream is being added, you may need to chill your cake a couple of times throughout the icing process.

Scallop Acrylic Disks are only available in sets of 2 disks per size in order to successfully create the scalloped edges in buttercream.

Whatever size round cake you are using is the same size you need for the Scallop Acrylic Disks. For example, if you are baking a 6" round cake, you want to choose "6 Inch" from the "Cake/Pan Size" drop-down menu options.

CakeSafe recommends tracing parchment paper and cutting it the same size as the Scallop Acrylic Disk and adhering it to the top disk.

Use either a metal icing scraper or CakeSafe’s OG Icing Scraper to get into the inner points of the scallop shape.

Once your disks are on the top and bottom of your cake tier, use your icing scraper to line up the disks by pushing the scraper into the crevices of the disks.

Before you order, please make sure you measure your finished cakes and the bottom of your cake pans to prevent having to exchange your disks for a new size. Feel free to call or email with any questions.

The general rule of thumb is:

  • .5" sizing – for cakes that shrink less than 1/8" (or not at all,) and you are not planning to cover with fondant
  • .25" sizing – for cakes that shrink more than 1/8" or your cakes do not shrink, but you are planning to cover with fondant
  • .00" sizing – for cakes that shrink more than 1/4"

CakeSafe is a transportation system for moving cakes, large and small. Your cakes are protected from heat, rain, wind, anything airborne like dust or pollen, any sudden or unexpected movements, bumpy rides, and sudden stops.

You can drive like a "normal" person, at "normal" speeds for hours and never have to worry that your cake will melt, shift, fall, or be damaged in any way. CakeSafe Boxes are reusable and can last for decades.

The durable materials used to create the CakeSafe, and the way it's constructed, make for years of stress-free deliveries. The 3/8" thick, food grade, stainless steel center dowel runs through your cake, cardboard between tiers, and cake drum.

With your cake in the CakeSafe box, the rod runs from the top of the box, through your cake, and into the bottom base of the box. This keeps your cake secure and safe from bumps, tipping, and slammed brakes. The sides are double-walled, which insulates the cake from heat. When the CakeSafe is fully assembled, your cake is nearly impervious to all outside conditions.
