Pastry chef Michelle Garcia has joined e.leaven, a scratch bakery on Chicago’s Near North Side, according to Chicagomag.com. After closing Bleeding Heart Bakery in August, Garcia worked in San Francisco as the executive pastry chef of the Four Seasons. At e.leaven, Garcia makes six to eight breads daily, as well as pies, cookies, eight kinds of bagels, and “flagels” – flat bagels for sandwiches.
Garcia also will debut new pastries like peanut butter and jelly brownie sandwiches, caramel and coffee eclairs, and gingerbread and lingonberry doughnuts, according to Eater.com.
e.leaven Food Company’s fare is specifically designed to complement fresh baked goods created each day by e.leaven’s artisans, according to the bakery’s website. Menu items include unique salads, an exceptional variety of eggs and omelets, hearty deli style sandwiches, pancakes and stuffed french toast.
In 2008, Eben Dorros, president e.leaven Food Company, made the dream of e.leaven a reality by opening its first location in Jackson Hole, WY. The second location opened in downtown Chicago in 2009.
