This February, the beloved Evanston cafe, Rose's Bakery, which was nearly forced to close its doors Christmas Eve had it not been for investor Marcus Lemonis, will open in Highland Park, IL.
Rose's Bakery and Cafe is a 100% gluten free bakery and restaurant in the greater Chicagoland area. In addition to providing great tasting fresh baked breads, cookies, cakes, cupcakes and muffins, the bakery also functions as a café, serving pizza, soups, sandwiches and more. The Highland Park locations will be open 7 days a week with extended hours in the summer.
Rose's Bakery, Cafe and Juice Bar offer pure, simple foods and beverages. Similar to Rose's Evanston location, the Highland Park location will feature Rose's gluten free products as well as a functioning cafe. In addition, the Highland Park location will offer blended beverages and organic smoothies, coffee and tea.
The menu will feature a variety of vegetarian, vegan and raw options alongside many Rose's favorites. In addition, The cafe will implement a detox program offering a variety of different options designed to meet individual needs.
Rose O'Carroll is owner and chef at Rose's Wheat Free Bakery and Cafe. Rose's family suffers from dietary restrictions, many of which unable to eat wheat, rye and barley. As baking and cooking for her family became a full time job, she determined there was a need for a gluten free restaurant. At that point, she attended Kendall College, took classes at the local Small Business Association, found an Evanston location and opened Rose's Bakery in December 2007.
Rose welcomes partner Marcus Lemonis, a Lake Forest resident and entrepreneur who appeared on the reality TV show Secret Millionaire, where he returned to his hometown of Miami and helped save three charitable organizations.
As Lemonis now calls Chicago home, he is thrilled he is able to save a local business that was ready to close. Marcus joins the team to turn Rose's Bakery into a success while retaining all of the employees.
"Having gone gluten free over a year ago and becoming a patron of Rose's, I know the love and devotion that customers have for Rose's as I am one of them," said Lemonis. "As the new owner and partner of Rose's, I am committed to not only keeping the business open but growing its customer base and having a successful and profitable business."
