Katy, TX, residents Dana and Diane Roark and their daughter Heidi recently opened a new Great Harvest Bread Co. bakery at 1623 S. Fry Road in Katy, just west of Houston. The bakery will serve as a community gathering place offering freshly baked whole grain breads and sweets, made-to-order sandwiches, locally roasted coffee, and free wireless high speed Internet.
Customers can watch the baking process in action as bakers knead the dough and handcraft each loaf. Great Harvest bakeries grind premium Montana wheat berries into whole-wheat flour daily and blend it with pure-and-simple ingredients such as honey, purified water, herbs and more to ensure products taste rich and retain important nutrients.
The Roarks have lived in Katy for the past 15 years and are very involved in the community, area sports teams, and their church. Dana, Diane, and Heidi will be working in the bakery to get their family business up and running.
“Great Harvest is all about making the best tasting products from scratch every day in a fun-loving atmosphere,” Heidi said. “Fresh baked bread is something everyone enjoys, and it is a perfect match for our health-conscious customers and anyone who loves the taste of freshly baked bread and sweets.”
Great Harvest’s legendary Honey Whole Wheat, Dakota and 9-Grain are among the featured whole grain breads. Popular specialty breads Cheddar Garlic, Cranberry Orange, and Cinnamon Chip will also be on the menu.
Originally founded in 1976 in Great Falls, Montana, Great Harvest has more than 200 bakeries located throughout the nation including Alaska and Hawaii. All bakeries are locally owned and operated, and no two are alike. Great Harvest is known for handcrafted breads made with freshly ground whole wheat purchased from family-owned farms. The neighborhood bakeries create an array of legendary fresh baked breads and sweets, as well as specialty items during the holidays.
